UN Volunteers Updated Website and Jobs

I saw a number of new UN volunteer jobs posted recently, everywhere from the Western Pacific to South America and Africa. Their website also has some exciting new reports and other material including this map showing their impact across the globe.

A world map showing various regions marked with numerical data; South America has 126, Europe has 194, Middle East has 163, Africa has 282, and Asia has 252.

Check their website to see a new UN report on Volunteerism, and job openings. Remember, with UNV you can be a national, international or e-volunteer.

During my four years with UNESCO in Malawi, our project had several young Malawians working as national UN volunteers. They did a great job in communications support and used that experience to further develop their careers.

SNV has International Development Jobs

I first learned about SNV decades ago in Ghana where they funded a small water/agriculture project for us in the North. At the time, I was one of two Field Officers with what is now CUSO International. Judging from the work they are reporting, SNV is still going strong!

Logo of SNV with the tagline 'Impact that matters'

SNV is a Netherlands global development partner, deeply rooted in the countries where we operate. Driven by a vision of a better world where all people live with dignity and have equitable opportunities to thrive sustainably, SNV strengthens capacities and catalyses partnerships that transform agri-food, energy, and water systems. We help strengthen institutions and effective governance, reduce gender inequalities and barriers to social inclusion, and enable adaptation and mitigation to the climate and biodiversity crises. With 60 years of experience and a team of approximately 1,600 people, we support our partners in more than 20 countries in Africa and Asia, tailoring our approaches to different contexts to achieve large-scale impact and create more equitable lives for all.

Our CARE principles—Committed to Impact, Adaptive to Context, Respecting Differences, and Expertise in Practice—are at the heart of who we are and the work we do. These principles are embedded in our vision, mission, and strategy, which serve as our compass guiding us towards 2030.

Vacancies

We regularly post a wide range of job openings, from traineeships and consulting roles to managerial positions. These opportunities cover multiple fields, including procurement, finance, communications, IT, monitoring and compliance across all the countries where we operate.

UNESCO India Assignment

I worked with UNESCO for four years as Team Leader on the STEP Malawi project. It was a fantastic project in skills and technical education like this one coming up in India but the latter has a particular focus on young women.

The position is “Project Associate” to support the implementation of the UNESCO–NIKE “Kickstart Her Future – India” project.

Application Deadline is: July 26th

To see information on the STEP Malawi program use the following link.

I found the UNESCO India request interesting for several reasons. One, the request shows the level of detail that goes into requests of this type, and secondly it provides a link to the UNESCO recruitment page.

Positions Available with Save the Children

Promotional graphic for Save the Children recruitment, highlighting a Project Director position with remote and flexible work options, focused on leadership impact for children's lives worldwide.

Before you get excited, I checked the link for this ad and it does not take you directly to Save the Children (International) site, but rather to one cluttered with confusing ads. So I did not include that link.
