Many of you will know that I was a skills specialist working for UNRWA in Gaza some years ago. Israel has made constant efforts to denigrate the organization but it is still very active in supporting Palestinian health and education in Gaza and other parts of the Middle East.

Let’s clear something up. UNRWA is STILL in Gaza. The UN agency never left. Its 12,000 Palestinian staff on the ground in Gaza never left and has no intention of going anywhere. Even after: 🚫 being “banned” by the Israeli government, 💸 defunded by the US government, ⛔ being blocked by Israel from getting life-saving aid trucks into Gaza, and 💔 surviving nearly two years of what experts know to be a genocide — Every. Single. Day. UNRWA is still: 🩺 Providing 10,000+ medical consultations daily — now the #1 healthcare provider in Gaza 💧Maintaining water wells 🧼 Sanitizing overcrowded shelters to stop the spread of disease 🧠 Teaching and counseling children, helping families cope with loss, displacement, and the daily trauma of survival And that’s just in Gaza. UNRWA also continues to operate in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan — reaching millions of Palestine refugees.
